Sweet Basil is a hairy, labiate plant. It grows to between 30–130 cm tall, with smooth, light green leaves 3–11 cm long and 1–6 cm broad. Its flowers are white and grow in the axils of the leaves.
The various Basil varieties differ in size, shape, odor and color of the leaves.
Cut or pick leaves as required, always from the top. When flowers are produced pick as soon as possible to encourage a more leafy growth.
